New Walk-in GP Service - Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre

You may be aware that a new walk-in GP service is opening at the Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre on Tuesday 10 February 2026.

This is a pilot service run by NHS Lothian and Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership and funded by the Scottish Government.

At this time, the service will be available only to patients registered with a group of GP practices that regularly work together in southwest Edinburgh. These include:

1.    Gilmore Medical Practice

2.    Leven Medical Practice

3.    Sighthill Green Medical Practice

4.    Sighthill Red Medical Practice

5.    Slateford Medical Practice

6.    Springwell Medical Practice

7.    Whinpark Medical Practice

8.    Wester Hailes Medical Practice

Access is being limited initially to help ensure the service is safe and effective for both patients and staff. Patient demand will be closely monitored and reviewed, and we will provide updates if access can be extended in the future.

In the meantime, we appreciate your continued support in accessing the right care in the right place by:

·         Visiting NHSinform.scot for online advice on minor ailments and local services

·         Going to your local pharmacy first for minor illnesses

·         Contacting your GP practice for routine or urgent care during normal opening hours

·         Calling 111, day or night, for minor injuries and out-of-hours advice

·         Dialling 999 or attending A&E in a critical emergency

Vaccination change

Vaccinations including Flu, shingles, pneumovac and travel will no longer be done in General Practice.  If you are eligible for a Flu, shingles or pneumovac you will be contacted by the Lothian vaccination team at the appropriate time.
